You Should Also Have

  • Experience leading a technical team

  • Experience developing and taking products to market

  • Master’s Degree in Polymer Science and Engineering (PhD preferred)

  • Minimum of 10 years industrial, leadership and management experience

  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills

Role Responsibilities

  • Provide strong leadership to the Peak Nano engineering organization and serve as senior member of the Peak Nano leadership team

  • Responsible for design, development and review of new products and new technologies

  • Ensure a rigorous approach to investigating and implementing improvement opportunities for existing products

  • Resource planning, managing expenditures and maintaining department budgeting

  • Supervises the Technology Scientific and Engineering personnel, and acts as an interface to other departments

  • Partner with the SVP Manufacturing to effectively and efficiently take products from development through the manufacturing process

  • Partner with the CTO to translate new science into products that can be commercialized

  • Protect Peak Nano Optics, LLC, intellectual property through the filing of new patent applications, publish in top-tier journals and present at appropriate conferences

  • Assists in defining the business strategy, managing the vision of the organization

  • Act as a custodian of the Peak Nano Culture and Core Values for the engineering organization

  • Develop and maintain clear goals within the engineering team, with clear roles and responsibilities and accountability for outcomes

  • Expertise in at least one of the following: synthesis of polymers, polymer processing, rheology, advanced analytical characterization, nanotechnology, optical materials, layer-by-layer (LBL) assembly, polymer-inorganic composites, and/or surface/interfacial science

  • Strong data analysis skills and the use of designed experiments

  • Strong scientific and technical acumen, with demonstrated interest and ability to make connections between science/technology and real-world concerns

  • Ability to thrive within a startup environment, dealing with ambiguity and a fast-paced decision-making process

  • Ensure that all applicable local, state and federal regulatory requirements are met during the course of development; act as the SME on polymer science with internal and external regulatory representatives

  • Provide feedback, input, and support for site manufacturing and technical personnel

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
