Peak Nano invites a Research Engineer with a deep commitment to excellence and innovation to join our multidisciplinary team specializing in polymer, mechanical, and optical engineering. We are at the forefront of revolutionizing the fabrication and large-scale manufacturing of our unique nano-layered gradient index of refraction (LGRIN) optical technology. Our team, rich in optical and scientific knowledge, seeks a professional with profound expertise in machine learning, including reinforcement and deep learning, and robust software development skills. This role requires a talent for creating detailed simulations, comprehensive analyses, and developing optimized solutions for emerging challenges in the realm of high-performance optics. The ideal candidate values personal responsibility, transparency, consistent performance, and a collaborative approach.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and enhance software for:

    • Accurate modeling of our innovative LGRIN technology in both commercial and internal optical design software

    • Designing molded multilayer polymer structures for applications in optical design and LGRIN structure development

  • Research, develop, and apply machine learning algorithms for novel applications in optical engineering

  • Stay abreast of and incorporate emerging machine learning methods, technologies, and best practices

  • Adapt and improve existing programs for new software platforms with precision and care

  • Document and communicate results effectively to a diverse audience, including engineers, physicists, and mathematicians

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science

  • Proficiency in MATLAB, Python, CUDA, and C/C++

  • Strong background in machine learning, reinforcement learning, and deep learning

  • Ability to optimize complex problems for efficient computation

  • Superior communication skills in English, both written and verbal

  • Proficient in PowerPoint, MS Word, and Excel

  • Professionalism and reliability in remote work settings

  • US Citizenship

Preferred Qualifications

  • PhD in Software/Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or Applied Mathematics

  • Knowledge of Optical Engineering

  • Publication history in engineering or science journals

  • Experience in programming for GPUs
