Engineering Intern: Opto-Mechanical Process R&D – Spring ‘26
Description

Provide mechanical design support for projects related to the manufacture and performance evaluation of optical systems. Create detailed models, assemblies, and prints based on design criteria and concept sketches.

Participate in manufacturing process development and process improvement efforts related to the assembly of optical systems.

Quick-turnaround design of jigs and fixtures to support all process areas.

Use data analysis and presentation tools to efficiently communicate experimental design, results, and conclusions to internal cross-functional technical teams. Share original concepts and design solutions in collaborative brainstorming and design review meetings.

Manage project timelines and efficiently communicate progress, technical challenges, and successes.

Maintain comprehensive process documentation to uphold reproducibility standards and comply with EH&S requirements.
Required Qualifications

Must be located in the Cleveland, OH area

US Citizenship
-
Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering

Familiarity with 3D-modeling and comfortable generating parts, assemblies, and drawings

An understanding of the design constraints related to 3D printing

Eagerness to develop hands-on experience with mechanical design and manufacturing process development
Preferred Qualifications

SolidWorks experience

Familiarity with GD&T

Fabrication experience and/or familiarity with hand tools
