The Peak Story

Founded in 2016, Peak’s core technology is NanoPlex™, a nanoscale metamaterial used for optics, capacitor films, and specialty films deployed for defense, energy, aerospace, and communications. Developed through collaboration and research with Case Western Reserve University, the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), and the Naval Research Laboratory.

We employ AI-based engineering and advanced manufacturing processes to produce optimized alternatives, from optics to capacitor films to protective packaging, based on our NanoPlex metamaterials. This solution versatility enables us to create new solutions that solve big problems, provide new capabilities, and optimize operations for our customers.  Peak products are designed and manufactured in the US with secure supply chains sourced from allied nations.

Leadership Perspectives

Peak was founded to commercialize NanoPlex-based products for optics, capacitor power films, Fusion energy power generation, and protecting aerospace systems. Our NanoPlex metamaterial allows Peak to create new materials that control and manage the most elemental forces in physics: light, power, structure, and atmospheric transfers. 

Peak’s core NanoPlex technology results from over a decade of research developed at Case Western Reserve University, DARPA, and The Naval Research Lab. The fundamental nature of our nanotechnology can be applied to many industries and applications. We have just begun to explore all of the opportunities.

Peak NanoPlex Films

  • NanoPlex HDC-based capacitors can store 2-4x more energy than industry standard BOPP-based (Biaxially Oriented Polypropylene) solutions.

  • NanoPlex HDC-based capacitors can be up to 50% smaller and lighter than BOPP-based solutions.

  • NanoPlex LDF-based capacitors last up to 3-5x longer than BOPP-based solutions.

  • Peak invented LGRIN (Layered Gradient Refractive Index) Optics technology using NanoPlex to create hybrid optics systems.

  • Up to 2X thinner than traditional glass lenses.
