Peak Nano has an immediate opening for a problem-solving leader and Manufacturing Process Engineer that will develop methods and practices within our highly automated manufacturing operations. Peak Nano is focused on developing and delivering innovative, disruptive solutions to the optical lens market. Located in Dallas, TX, the Manufacturing Engineer will work closely with Peak Nano Manufacturing and Engineering team in Valley View, Ohio and our capital equipment and automation partner in Liberty, SC over the next 6-9 months. The Manufacturing Engineer will be helping define, improve and optimize the polymer lens manufacturing process while assisting in the orchestration of full-scale deployment in our new state-of-the-art facility in Dallas.
This key leader will assume responsibility for all manufacturing controls equipment and processes within the production facility as well as the definition and delivery of production controls systems as we move to larger scale production. Responsibilities include assisting in development of and meeting production schedule and delivery of high-quality products.
Develop and implement technical solutions through hands-on experimentation/ problem-solving of production equipment issues.
Work closely with process owners to define scope of issues and determine optimal problem-solving strategies and solutions.
Evaluate multiple interconnected manufacturing processes to strategize and execute the most effective continuous improvement initiatives. Leverage manufacturing best practices such as Lean and Six Sigma to facilitate process improvement.
Validate the impact of continuous improvement initiatives on process capability with appropriate use of statistical analysis.
Provide expertise during the scale-up, sampling, and commercialization of new technologies by working seamlessly with other groups, business partners, and customers. Push boundaries on process to develop an understanding of the relationship between process and product performance.
Contribute to multi-disciplinary project teams tackling problems from early development to production scaling.
Lead by example in the area of safety behaviours by promoting safe work habits.
Minimum of 12+ years’ experience in manufacturing industry, with significant presence in controls and automation, automation integration/upgrade, and quality. Open to wide range of automation experience but ideally the successful candidate will have exposure/experience with ABB controls and robotics.
Plastic conversion experience is highly preferred with emphasis given to individuals with thermoforming, injection molding and lamination.
Exposure to Six Sigma, Lean, and other highly respected manufacturing philosophies and disciplines.
Ability to work independently and drive projects to completion, particularly as it relates to development of new processes and/or improvement of existing processes in a manufacturing environment.
Ability to successfully partner with team members and stakeholders from multiple backgrounds
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
BS in Industrial, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering preferred.
