In food and beverage packaging, EVOH is the strongest oxygen barrier film available, but it carries a known weakness: it loses performance when exposed to moisture, especially in humid conditions and with high-moisture foods. The usual fix is to bury EVOH between protective layers, adding tie layers, cost, and complexity, while making the final structure harder to recycle.
